SMTP Authentication Setup for Netscape 6.x

1. From your Netscape Mail window (which you can access by opening Netscape and clicking on Tasks Menu->Mail). Select the Edit Menu item, then Mail/News Account Settings.

   

2. You will now get a window titled "Account Settings" on your screen. Click on "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" in the menu box on the left.

3. You'll see a box labelled "Server Name" which contains the name of your mail server, for example, "la.znet.com". Append ":587" to the end of the server name in the box (without quotes). So if your mail server entry was "la.znet.com" it should now read "la.znet.com:587"
4. Check "Use name and password" and enter your zNET username in the "User Name" box:

   

5. Press OK, and you are done (when you send mail, Netscape will prompt you for your password and give you an option to have Netscape save it).
