Why am I getting the email error "Relaying Denied" when trying to send mail?

You will get the error message "Relaying Denied" if you try sending email through one ISP's mail servers, while connected to the internet via another service (as a spam prevention measure, virtually all ISP's will refuse to relay the email for you if you are connected to the internet via another network).

You will also get this error message if you are connected to the internet via one of zNET outside access phone lines (if the number you are dialing into the internet with does not end in "0114", you're connected via an outside access line). You can of course send mail using your zNET account while connected to the internet via another ISP or via one of our outside lines, you just need to have your email program "login" to our mail server with your zNET username and password, so it can authenticate you and allow you to send out email. This is called "SMTP Authentication".

To set it up, just click here, locate your email program on the list, and follow the instructions for setting up SMTP Authentication in your email program.
