zNET Broadband Quickstart for Windows NT

To connect one computer:

1. Ensure you have an Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) installed and correctly configured in your computer.

2. Plug one end of a CAT 5 cable into the ethernet port on the back of your computer (the port which looks like a phone jack, but slightly larger), and the other end of the cable into the LAN interface on the broadband connection device (DSL modem, etc).

3. Go to the START menu and select Settings, then click on Control Panel.

   
   

   
   

4. Double click on the Network Icon. It will take you to Network Configuration box.
   Then double click on the Protocol tab.

   
   

   
   

5. Highlight the "TCP/IP Protocol" line and click Properties.
   Enter the setting information supplied to you in your install package. (the numbers below are examples)

   
   

   
   

6. Click on the "DNS" tab and enter the setting information supplied
   to you in the install package (Not these numbers). Then click the OK button at the bottom.

   
   

   
   

7. Click the OK button again.

   
   

   
   

8. That should be it. The other tabs should be left as the defaults. The computer will reboot (or not) and you will be ready to go.

To connect multiple computers:

1. You will need to connect an Ethernet hub or switch into the broadband connection device. Follow the instructions included with your hub or switch for connecting to a router. In some instances, a cross-over Ethernet cable may be required. However, some devices have built-in cross-over ports than can be used in lieu of cross-over cables.

2. Follow the steps for connecting one computer above, skipping step 2. Plug one end of your computer into an available port on the hub or switch.

3. Continue the instructions above, beginning at step 3.
