zNET Broadband Quickstart for Windows XP

NOTE: You must be logged into Windows as "Administrator" in order to make these changes.

To connect one computer:

1. Ensure you have an Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) installed and correctly configured in your computer.
2. Plug one end of a CAT-5 ethernet cable into your computer's NIC and the other end into the LAN interface on your broadband connection device (DSL modem, etc).
3. Open the property settings for your computer's LAN interface by doing the following:
   • Click Start, then click Control Panel.
   • Click on the Network Connections icon.
   • Right-click on Local Area Connections and select the Properties option.
   • Select Internet Protocol (TCPIP)/, then click the Properties button
4. Select Use the following IP address
5. Specify the IP adddress, Subnet mask and Default gateway for your machine (as included on the Quickstart in your install package).
6. Select Use the following DNS server addresses
7. Enter these IP addresses:

   Primary: 207.167.96.1
   Secondary: 207.167.67.1

8. Finished!

1. You will need to connect an Ethernet hub or switch into the broadband connection device. Follow the instructions included with your hub or switch for connecting to a router. In some instances, a crossover Ethernet cable may be required. However, some devices have built-in crossover ports that can be used in lieu of of crossover cables.
2. Follow the steps for connecting one computer above, skipping step 2. Plug one end of your computer into an available port on the hub or switch.
3. Continue the instructions above, beginning at step 3.
